Barbadians Commemorate Lost Lives in Campus Trendz Fire

Patrons with placards

Yesterday the 3rd September 2011, marked a year of the passing of the six young women (Kellisha Olliviere, Shanna Griffith and Pearl Cornelius, Kelly-Ann Welch, Tiffany Harding and Nikita Belgrave) who perished in the Campus Trendz fire. The September 3rd Foundation organised a peaceful march from the store on Tudor Street, Bridgetown to Queen’s Park in which over 200 patrons took to the streets. Young children, babies in strollers, teens and adults walked the stretch to commemorate the lives of those lost and calls for peace as people held placards and messages on t-shirts to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the increase of crime in Barbados.

Founder of the September 3rd Foundation David Commisiong spoke at the Tribute held in Queen’s Park following the march and urged Barbadians to wake up and make the “monumental effort” to save their nation. John King also sang ‘How Many More’ which is most fitting and a question we will be asking for years to come.
